Facebook Has Reached 300 Million Users!

You heard me right guys, as of yesterday, Facebook currently has 300 million active users. That means the amount of Facebook user's is about as large as the population of the United States (307 million according the US Census Bureau).
Within the last 75 days, Facebook had 50 million new users sign up. That means an average of over 665,000 people would have signed up daily, which is 3 times the amount of babies, 216 000, that are born worldwide every day.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg says his goal is to get everyone across the world connected and allow the website to continue being both quick and easy to use.

Facebook is officially the "King Kong of all social media" and is continuously growing. It is predicted that Facebook is now too big to fail. Which is good news for me because Facebook is my lifeline to connect with family and friends thousands of miles away.
So pass the message along, everyone needs to sign up and become a Facebook user. If your not already, CLICK HERE to do so.

The New Feature on Facebook!!!

That's right guys, in the image above, I am "tagging" one of my Facebook friends in my status update. This is new on Facebook and you heard me right... you can now tag your friends in your status updates. This feature has recently been added replicating tagging your friends in your status updates on Twitter.
What does this mean for us Facebook users? Simply, you can have the same fun on Facebook as you do on Twitter. If your friend has a birthday... give them a birthday shout out on your Facebook status!!! Of coure there are many other ways you can have fun with this feature.
How do you use it? Well it's simple... simply add a "@" in front of your friends name and tag away!!!!!
That is all for your Monday update, be back soon for another update on the greatest social media of all... Facebook!

Facebook Status Updates vs Twitter

There is a huge controversy out there on what social media is the best. When it comes down to it, I think it is a personal choice... I know for myself, I am a huge Facebook fan. I find it simple to use and I can keep in contact with those who matter most. Other social media, I find, are not as easy to use... Like Twitter. I find Twitter entertaining... but so hard to follow. So that brings us to... what is better: Facebook status updates or Twitter?
What is the difference between Facebook status updates and Twitter? Well not much. Twitter is a worldwide broadcast of 140 characters. You can follow anyone and anyone can follow you.
Facebook, you have more characters to work with, plus you can see only your friends' status updates as well as comment and "like" their status. Your friend's status updates will show up in your mini-feed. The great thing is, you can keep yourself updated on the lives of your friends.
Another difference between the two social media is that on Facebook, you are mutual friends with someone which means you are followed by who you follow. On Twitter, who you follow is different from who follows you. It can be quite confusing.
But, on Twitter, you can follow celebrities which is something you cannot do on Facebook.
So who wins this battle? Well the decision is yours. I say Facebook but others may think differently. What is your opinion?

Why Facebook?

You may have asked yourself this in the past... if not ask yourself now... why is Facebook so big, so successful, and so addicting? There are probably many different answers and different opinions to this question. I know most would probably answer... "well because everyone's using it". Well, with over 250 million current active users, that statement is a slight exaggeration from the truth. So what are some logical answers??? Here are mine:

I became a Facebook user in September 2005... so for the last four years I have been an active Facebook user. I have also actively used different social media such as Myspace, Twitter, Blogs, etc... and they do not compare to my preference to Facebook because of these reasons...

1. Since the beginning, Facebook has remained simple. You are not allowed to change your page with HTML like Myspace; therefore, Facebook has almost completely avoided clutter.

2. Facebook has made the website readily available to everyone worldwide. Not only that, they have established Facebook applications for many different brands of phones, for example iPhones & Blackberry's to list a couple. Facebook has also created a couple mobile websites for mobile phones like x.facebook.com and m.facebook.com. Finally, Facebook has created a way for their users to update their pages frequently on SMS text messages with 52 different carriers. How much easier does it get?

3. Facebook created networks for people to easily search friends and family. Networks also allow people to connect with different people via different interests, jobs, locations, etc...

4. Facebook allows users to post pictures and "tag" their friends in them. This is another form of networking because it will post links to those friends' pages who are tagged in the pictures.

5. Facebook has also created a way for not only people to create profiles, but company's and celebrities as well.

There are five of the many different answers to a question we must ask ourselves. Why is this site so addicting? Well there it is. We all love Facebook.
